In 2009 in Hong Kong, Mrs. Lee and her baby grandson Tom are chased by yaoguai. Mrs. Lee fends them off with the help of the Zodiac Warriors, a group of shapeshifters rooted in the Chinese zodiac, before confronting Ms. Penny Loo, a sorceress controlling the yaoguaiv 15 years later, Tom, now living with his grandmother in San Francisco, faces a bully at school, partially for the Chinese appearance of his house, when he inadvertently unleashes a magical force. After school, Tom removes some charms from his home, which unbeknownst to him were protecting against the evil spirits. Soon after, Mr. Hu, the tiger of the Warriors, visits after sensing that the charms have been dispatched. During the fight, Mrs. Lee throws the stone to Tom, making him the guardian right at that moment, before activating all the protective charms together, which results in a blast intended to kill her and Loo, but the latter survives. |

Shiver your timbers with this swashbuckling musical comedy! Captain Jennings' crew jumps ship, leaving him with only a handful of prisoners and Fergus, a sailor who can't swim, to protect his wealthy passengers from a pirate attack. Captain Bree and her lady pirates demand gold in exchange for the lives of the pretentious Madam Prescot, her nephew Samuel (who is masquerading as a girl to avoid becoming shark bait), and her niece Julia (that'll jump to join the lady pirates the first chance she gets...much to her aunt's dismay!). While waiting for a response from the English, the pirates entertain themselves by showing Julia the process of pirating, such as threatening prisoners with the plank. What's in store when a British fleet arrives, set on both hanging the pirates for their deeds and punishing Captain Jennings for not fighting them off more effectively? You'll have to join in on the high seas fun to find out!

Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts his first Met performances
of Strauss’s white-hot one-act tragedy, which receives its first new
production at the company in 20 years. Claus Guth, one of Europe’s leading opera
directors, gives the biblical story—already filtered through the beautiful and strange
imagination of Oscar Wilde’s play—a psychologically perceptive Victorian-era setting rich
in symbolism and subtle shades of darkness and light. Headlining the new staging is
soprano Elza van den Heever as the abused and unhinged antiheroine, who demands
the head of Jochanaan, sung by celebrated baritone Peter Mattei. Tenor Gerhard Siegel
is Salome’s lecherous stepfather, King Herod, with mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung as
his wife, Herodias, and tenor Piotr Buszewski as Narraboth. Derrick Inouye conducts two

NGDA offers classes for students ranging from ages 3-adult, with both workshop and structured style classes. Each year, the studio takes a teen team of dancers to the Step up 2 Dance competition for those interested in competition, performs an end of year recital, and also offers classes that are drop in only, with no performance expectations at all.
