World of Fun Amusement Park was founded in 1937 by the O'Brien family when they emigrated from Scotland. Starting with 5 acres and a dream they built their first rollercoaster that was 1,235 feet in length and the ride lasted a mere 57 seconds.
In 1998, a full featured separate park called World of Water was added.
Today World of Fun now spans 560 acres and has 37 spine tingling rides. Along with food courts, splash parks and kiddie rides, World of Fun has recently added a wedding chapel and a 60 room hotel and banquet hall.
