Art Center Of Citrus County

The Art Center of Citrus County is a member owned and operated 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the participation, education and appreciation of the arts. The Art Center is managed by an elected Board of Directors that serves without compensation and a part-time executive director.. The Art Center carries out this mission through programs in the visual and theatrical arts here on its campus in central Citrus County.

The Art Center programs concentrate on using artistic venues to build confidence, self-determination and problem-solving skills for anyone who wants to learn something new. The Art Center is open to all who appreciate and want to support the arts in our community.

The Art Center is a 501c3 organization incorporated in 1973. The current campus consists of two buildings, a 6,500 square foot Art and Education Building originally built in 1984 and remodeled in 2007, and a 7,000 square foot community theater that opened in 2003. The Art Center Theatre is a 200 seat theater with modern stadium seating, theater lighting and sound systems, dressing rooms and wing space where the organization produces three dramas and/or comedies, three musicals, and two youth plays annually.

The Art Center Academy is the division of the Art Center that includes youth theater programs, visual arts instruction, and classes in both the arts and theater for adults. There is work space for artists used by groups who meet and work at the Art Center. There are five open exhibits annually for visual artists, with gallery space to display the artwork of contestants. The Art Center Camera Club is a well-established and active group that conducts photographic competitions, workshops and classes in photography. In our resource library, scrapbooks kept over the last 50 years contain photos and news articles of the large variety of activities that have occurred over the years. These are a remarkable record of growth and achievement by countless dedicated volunteers.

The Art Center today is a true art center, representing the visual arts, the photographic arts and theatrical arts.
